Description
Ezra Cornell lent his vision of a broad pursuit of knowledge and his name to Cornell University. His statue overlooks the campus quad. Cornell and Andrew Dickson White co-founded the private, federal land-grant university in 1865. The duo located the school in Ithaca, NY--Ezra Cornell's hometown. The school draws its motto from Ezra Cornell's quote concerning the purpose of the school:"I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study."
The Ivy League school boasts an enrollment of 21,900+ students. Cornell partners with the State University of New York system, housing four statuary colleges on its Ithaca campus: New York State College of Agriculture and Life Science; New York State College of Human Ecology; New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations; New York State College of Veterinary Medicine.
