Description
In celebration of the Ohio Bicentennial in 2003, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and the Ohio State Legislature commissioned Scott Hagan to paint 88 barns across the state (one per county). The project took five years (1997-2002) to complete, with the last barn painted in time for the 2003 celebration. Hagan painted, by freehand, 101 barns in total for the program, at a cost of $1,500 per barn. A tornado claimed one barn shortly after painting was complete. Time has faded many of the barns. The remaining Ohio Bicentennial Barns still attract barn enthusiasts.
This striking red Ohio Bicentennial Barn (Ohio Barn #8) sits along the east side of I-71 in Ashland County.
