Description
The architectural beauty of Istanbul's Blue Mosque dazzles day and night. Built in the 17th century (1609-1616) by Sultan Ahmed as a statement of Ottoman dominance, the Sultanahmet Camii is now an iconic feature of Istanbul's cityscape.
The Blue Mosque is a part of Istanbul's UNESCO World Heritage designation. UNESCO recognition of sites for World Heritage status identifies locations of cultural and/or natural heritage deemed of value to humanity.
I captured this image with my Canon 5 D Mark III & Canon 70-200 f/4L IS USM lens during Ramadan (July 2014) as the crowd of pilgrims celebrated the breaking of the day's fast.
