Description
The Alamo stands as an iconic symbol of courage and sacrifice. The heroic defenders of the mission, all killed in the brief, bloody battle of March 1836, included Davey Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William B. Travis. The Alamo is hallowed ground and the 'Shrine of Texas Liberty.'
The San Antonio Missions (The Alamo & San Antonio Missions National Historical Park) is an inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
