Description
Abandoned homesteads dot the Staked Plains of West Texas. They stand as testimony to the harsh realities of dry land farming. Draught, dust storms, blazing heat, winter ice conspire against those who dared inhabit the Llano Estacado. I passed this abandoned homestead on a recent photo outing. The last vestiges of vibrant red set against the golden grass, dried by drought, and the azure late afternoon sky created a compelling scene. If walls could talk what stories might they tell in this old house?
