Description
Iceland's Diamond Beach is a wonderland for photographers and tourists. Icebergs cleaved from nearby Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier, flow through Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon into the North Atlantic Ocean. Large glacial chunks tumble in the surf. The receding tide deposits polished ice chards on the jet black sand. Each day, each tidal cycle delivers a new set of gems. Light and shadow, sand and surf combine to create a dazzling scene. Black and white highlights the elemental beauty of the scene.
Diamond Beach is located within the Katla UNESCO Global Geopark--Iceland's first Geopark (2011). The geopark boundaries include a wide away of cultural, historical, and natural sites in southern Iceland.
I recommend a glossy or luster photographic paper, glossy canvas, acrylic or metal print to highlight the luminescence of the ice and soft flow of the surf.
