Description
Farolito season at El Santuario de Chimayó adds an extra sense of holiness. Luminaries line the courtyard adobe walls and the chapel roof. Twinkle lights in the bushes add extra sparkle. The shrine and its reported miracles date to the early 19th century. Shortly after the first church on the site opened in 1810, Christ of Esquipulas Church, reports of miracles came to light. The flow of pilgrims necessitated a larger chapel. El Santuario de Chimayó replaced the first chapel in 1816. Do your soul a favor and visit this historic shrine.
This image serves as a reminder of the sacred at El Santuario de Chimayó.
