Artist's Description

Cincinnati's iconic John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge dazzles day and night. When completed in 1866, the 1,056 foot span across the Ohio River was the longest such bridge in the world. Today, the bridge connects Covington, KY, and downtown Cincinnati, OH. It is the historic centerpiece of each city's life along the mighty Ohio.

John A. Roebling had to overcome opposition from the riverboat industry, skeptical politicians, and Civil War construction delays to complete his bridge. Today, the bridge is owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, purchased in 1953 from the Covington-Cincinnati Bridge Company for $4.2 million. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1975) and the National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark (1983).

His images appear in publications and Hollywood productions and hang on the walls of businesses, homes, and high-end hotels. Stephen operates Stephen Stookey Photography, an online print on demand business. Thank you for taking time to view my portfolio.
