Description
Galveston's historic seawall was installed following the tragic 1900 hurricane. The wall was designed to protect the city from hurricane tidal flows. Colorful signs mark prominent points along the Seawall. The Promenade allows visitors a paved sidewalk along the top fo the Seawall. Couples walking hand-in-hand, young children excited about a day at the beach, and cyclists fill the Promenade, enjoying a Texas coastal sunrise, sunset, or a bold Texas blue sky. Generations of Texans flock to Galveston for family vacations.
