Description
Lush green grass, crystal blue sky, and wispy clouds accentuate this Shaker village panoramic fine art image. The United Society of Believers in Christ Second Coming--popularly known as Shakers--established religious communes throughout the northeast and middle America in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Woodwork (furniture), packaged seed industry, and agriculture provided income for the communities. Today, only one active Shaker village remains--Sabbath Day Lake in Maine. The remainder of the Shaker villages are either lost to history or transitioned to museums.
