The Deep Ellum neighborhood, east of downtown Dallas, is home to iconic live music venues, trendy art galleries, and popular eateries. Deep Ellum developed in 1873 as a residential and business center, primarily for African-Americans and European immigrants. Originally named Deep Elm, mispronunciations led to the neighborhoods current moniker.
