The Texas State Capitol Building stand 15 feet taller than the national capitol in Washington D. C. Renaissance Revival architecture creates exquisite visual lines inside and outside the Capitol Building. Standing atop the dome, the unsheathed sword of justice in one hand and a gilded lone star held aloft in the other, is the Goddess of Liberty. A goddess has stood atop the capitol dome since February of 1888. A new goddess was installed in 1986, with the original goddess now resides inside the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.
