Description
Marymere Falls is among the most beautiful on the Olympic Peninsula. The 1.7 miles out-and-back trail to the ethereal 90 foot falls begins near Olympic National Park's Storm King Ranger Station. The trail crosses under the Olympic Highway (US 101) and winds through verdant old grown forest populated by firs, alder, and hemlock. The falls on Falls Creek drop into a mossy, fern covered ravine before Falls Creek joins with Barnes Creek on its run to Crescent Lake. The falls were named by Seattle Press Expedition member Charles Barnes for his sister, Mary Alice Barnes. Charles returned to the area following the famed Press Expedition to homestead omni the shore of Lake Crescent. Marymere Falls is an wonderful hike fo families visiting the Lake Crescent region.
