"Often imitated; never duplicated." So says Pat's King of Steaks proprietors of its famous Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Located at the intersection of 9th Street & Passyunk Avenue, Pat's has served up cheesesteaks to its faithul, fanatical following since the1930s. Brothers, Pat and Harry Olivieri, founders of Pat's, are credited with the creation of the Philly Cheesesteak in 1933, just three years after opening a hot dog stand on the site of the current Pat's. Today, the three street intersection is South Philadelphia, at the edge of the city's famous Italian Market, is ground zero for cheesesteak battles, with rival Geno's Steaks.
