Description
Ship Rock rises almost 1,600 feet above the high-plains desert of northwestern New Mexico. Navajo hold the rock sacred, a source of myths and legends. Lava dikes radiate from the ancient volcano. There is little wonder why the iconic landmark is revered. This image was captured just the morning sun lit the eastern face of the monolith.
