The Panhandle South Plains Fair has been a Lubbock, Texas, tradition since 1914. The first carnival rides in Lubbock arrived with the 1921 fair. Today, thousands attend the early fall event, featuring rides, games, exhibitions, food and concerts.

Stephen Stookey, Ph.D., is a university dean/church history professor/ordained minister by day and photographer by night. Well, not just nighttime; you get the picture. His love for photography began with a Kodak Instamatic 104 and a handful of GE flash cubes.
