Description
A statue of Sir Isaac Newton stands in the Ante-Chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge, before the World War II Honor War. The wall pays tribute to the men of Trinity College lost in the war.
The latin text inscribed atop the memorial draws from 1 Samuel 25: 16 and reads (with translation following): PRO MURO ERANT NOBIS TAM IN NOCTE QUAM IN DIE -- They were a wall unto us both by night and day.
Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) a graduate and fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge University, is noted for his contributions to math and science.
