Description
Nineteenth century cartographer T. M. Fowler traveled the United States and Canada producing hand drawn, panoramic maps. The majority of his work recorded locations in Pennsylvania. He spent time traveling Texas in the early 1890s charting the growth of Texas cities.
This map captures Plano, Texas, in 1890. Plano sat at crossing of the Cotton Belt Railroad and the recently completed Houston & Texas Central Railroad. The H & TC RR linked at Red River City with the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad (M K & T) to provide an all-rail route from Texas to St. Louis, and on to the east coast. The growing north Texas city boasted businesses schools, and churches at the intersection of two major rail lines. Plano offered opportunity to those back East seeking a fresh start in Texas.
This map, drawn by T. M. Fowler and produced by Boston's A. E. Downs Lithograph Company, is the perfect addition to a home or business proud of its Texas heritage.
Please note, this is a copy of a vintage map. It bears the marks of almost 125 years of use, adding to the vintage feel of the map.
