Description

The landscape of New Mexico's high-desert badlands is surreal. Wind & water, freeze & thaw shape the land, creating stunning hoodoo formations. Valley of Dreams in the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Area contains a collection of stunning hoodoos. The large formation, standing tall, reminded me of sentries protecting their domain. The hike is well worth the difficulties--finding the location, preparing for the harsh elements, and no facilities. Be prepared and leave no trace.
