Description
National Park Inn, located in the historic Longmire District, is one of two historic lodges in Mount Rainier National Park. The Longmire family developed the area in the late 1880s, hosting travelers to the region at their Longmire Springs Inn. In 1906 the Tacoma & Eastern Railroad Company built the National Park Inn to compete with the Longmire's lodge. The Rainier National Park Company purchased and consolidated the Longmire Springs and National Park Inn, dismantling the Longmire Springs and moving its annex next to the Inn. Fire destroyed the original National Park Inn in 1926. The annex survived and took on the National Park Inn name.
