Description
The Majestic Theatre opened in 1929, the centerpiece of San Antonio's progressive advance at the close of the 1920s. Built for Interstate Theatres, the Majestic originally seated 4,000 people--making it the second largest theatre in the nation behind Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre. Cool air was the Majestic's claim to fame as the first fully air conditioned theatre in the Lone Star State. The Majestic advertised "an acre of cool, comfortable seats." Today, the Majestic seats 2,264 and host touring Broadway shows and concerts.
