Description
Fort Worth, TX--'The Queen of the Prairies'--1886 map published in Milwaukee by the Norris and Wellege Company. Cartographers traveled the United States and Canada in the late nineteenth century chronicling cities large and small. Prominent businesses paid for special emphases to advertise their presence. Communities used such maps to entice prospective residents to seek a fresh start in a bustling, prosperous city. Fort Worth, with 25,000 residents, fine homes, diverse businesses, churches, collegiate education, and convenient transportation offered much to those back East considering a move to Texas.
This image, lightly retouched for wall display, still bears the marks of 100+ years of use. It is the perfect wall compliment for home or office, recalling the hope and optimism past and present in Fort Worth.
If ordering a canvas print, a matte finish is recommended. For prints the archival matte paper offers a smooth look or the picture rag paper offers a bit of texture to pull out the vintage feel of this wonderful map. Acrylic and metal prints merge the vintage feel of the map with a contemporary feel. A variety of custom mat and framing options are available to fit most any decorating needs.
