Description
Chicago's iconic Water Tower has withstood weather, fire, and time. Built in 1869, the historic landmark is the nation's second oldest water tower--Louisville's Water Tower (1860) stands as America's oldest. The structure gained notoriety after surviving the Great Chicago Fire (1871)--the only public structure to remain within the burn zone. The classic, castle-like structure stands in stark contrast to the contemporary architecture of Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile. The Water Tower is arguably the Windy City's most photographed building. The Water Tower now serves as the Chicago Tourism Office.
I love this image with light trails from passing traffic on a Friday evening. This is the perfect piece of wall art for those who love the Windy City.
