Description
The iconic Chicago Theater marquee hangs over State Street. It is indelibly linked with the Windy City. The theatre opened in 1921 as the flagship theatre in a chain operated by the Balazan brothers and Stan Katz. Movies, vaudeville performances, plays, magic acts and concerts filled the stage and screen inside. Tourists flock to the site for pictures. The Chicago Theatre appears on the National Register of Historic Places (1979) and Chicago Landmarks (1983). The historic marquee functions as the unofficial emblem of the Windy City. This is the perfect image for those who love Chicago.
